Baptism is your public decision to follow Christ. We invite everyone who has decided to follow Jesus to stand in the water with us and declare that Jesus is Lord and you are all in!
At Mile Two, we designate specific Sundays for baptism and encourage you to invite your family and friends to witness this pivotal moment in your walk with Christ.
We believe that baptism is an important first step of obedience for every person who has made Jesus the Lord of their life. If you've been around church before you are probably familiar with water baptism. Still, you may have questions. Why is it so important? Is it required of everyone? What does it all mean?
What is the meaning of Baptism?
There are three simple things you should know about Water Baptism.
1. Baptism is a public declaration of a new association.
When we participate in Water Baptism we are "Going Public" with our decision to follow Jesus. When you read the stories in the New Testament of people making Jesus the Lord of their lives, you see that they quickly follow it up with the act of Water Baptism.
2. Baptism is a personal declaration of a new association.
"When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. The old life has passed away and a new life has begun!" --2 Cor. 5:17
Participating in Water Baptism is a personal decision that helps to outwardly affirm an inward decision that has been made. Many Christians look back to their Water Baptism as a anchoring point and it gives them strength and confidence as they walk out the Christian life.
3. Baptism is not a condition of salvation; it is evidence of salvation.
It's important to remember that the act of Water Baptism is an outward sign of an inward work of grace. The outward sign does not produce the inward grace, rather it demonstrates it in a visible and public way.
Our faith is what unites us to Christ; Baptism simply symbolizes the union.
Who should be Baptized?
Every person who has believed in Christ.
"Those who believe and accepted His message were baptized..." --Acts 2:41
