Resources on Faith
Here are a couple of articles and a few books dealing with the subject of Faith and also Prayer. These represent a diversity of traditions and so it’s helpful for us to approach them with humility and an open mind and heart.
“What Is Faith” - Article by Paul Carter
This brief article lays out different elements that are involved in a true, living faith.
“The Faith to Doubt Christianity” - Article by Timothy Keller
This article shows that a true, resilient faith is always looking for truth. Keller shows that when this is our approach, it will lead us to God and show the truth of Christianity.
Simply Christian” - book by N. T. Wright
N. T. Wright, a brilliant, Spirit-filled Anglican bishop, describes the basics of what the Christian faith is, and how it will impact our lives if we let it.
“Mere Christianity” - book by C. S. Lewis
Mere Christianity is a 20th century classic that outlines the essence of Christianity. It was written in the 1940’s, so some of the examples and applications may be a bit dated, but it has stood as one of the best-known Christian books in the last century.
“The Faith” - book by Charles Colson
Chuck Colson was a very influential Christian leader in the last half of the 20th century. “The Faith” describes how a living Christianity can bring God’s influence to the world around us.
“Gospel” - book by G. D. Greear
Greear goes through the basics of what the Gospel is and what it means to us. Chapter 11 is a helpful approach to unanswered prayer.
