Living By Faith
The state of your faith matters. A lot. In fact, if you’re a follower of Jesus, you should be living your life by faith.
But that isn’t always easy to do, nor is it easy to understand. There is a lot of confusion and unspoken fears around this idea of living by faith.
In this four week series, we are going to talk about what it really looks like to live by faith. We’re going to ask the hard questions and look at the practical wisdom that Jesus has to offer on the kind of life that is pleasing to God.
If you have ever been worried that your faith wouldn’t be strong enough to carry you through a crisis, or if you have lost faith because your prayers were not answered the way you were told they should be if you were praying in faith, you need to do this study.
Imagine how different your outlook on life would be if you had rock-solid faith in God?
We recommend that you have your group listen to the sermon ahead of time so you can discuss it when you gather. These sermons are available on the Mile Two Church sermon podcast on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play or Spotify.
Part 1 - “Object > Strength”
Living by faith isn’t always easy to do, nor is it easy to understand. There is a lot of confusion and unspoken fears around this idea of living by faith. Many Christians wonder if there faith would be strong enough to endure a crisis.
But what if it's not as complicated as we've made it out to be? What if it wasn't about strength of our faith as much as it is about placing our faith in the right place or person?
Part 2 - “The Here & Now and The Yet To Come”
When we're living by faith we will soon discover that there is a tension that exists. In other words, there are multiple truths that can be challenging to hold at the same time.
In the moments that we feel the tension we need to remember that these tensions do not threaten what is true; they actually have the potential to make it more real. So in part two, we endeavoured to embrace the tension that comes with living by faith.
Part 3 - “Godly Contentment”
In our life of faith, one of the tensions we feel is between what Paul described as “being content in whatever state I am,” and “pressing on toward the goal to win the prize…”
How can we embrace both of these truths, and what are some of the challenges we all face in living a contented life?
