Day 7 - Our Responce

Rom 6:12-14Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

Now that we’ve seen what God has done for us, we need to ask ourselves how we should respond.

Certainly we need to be thankful. God has done Much More for us than we can ever imagine. So certainly we need to be bold about telling others all about Him. This news is too good for us to keep to ourselves. And let’s face it, if someone hadn’t been bold to tell you about it, where would you be?

But these verses in Romans 6 show us what God expects of us. Since He has gone to great lengths for us to live free from sin, and walk in righteousness, this is what He desires us do. And he helps us in this:

He fills us with His Holy Spirit who guides and leads us (Jn 16:13)

He has given us a conscience that tells us what’s right and wrong (Heb 13:18)

He gives us the grace and power to walk free from sin (Rom 6:14)

He connects us to other believers who help keep us on track (Heb 10:24)

But He still leaves it up to us. While we need to be thankful to Him, the best way to express that thankfulness is by walking Much More in His truth.

The LORD directs the steps of the godly.

He delights in every detail of their lives.

Though they stumble, they will never fall,

for the LORD holds them by the hand.
