Day 1 - The Father-Heart of God
One of the best-known passages in the Bible is Psalm 23. It is a beautiful song that describes the Father-heart of God. He loves us dearly and He wants to care for us dearly.
Ps 23
- A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
- He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.
- He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.
- Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
- You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.
- Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
King David, who wrote this psalm, was known as a mighty and fearless warrior. He was a man’s man who did not shrink from danger. And yet, he also had a very tender heart toward God – he knew that God saw him as the apple of His eye (Ps 17:8). We remember him as one of the great worshippers of all time. When he was not on the battlefield, he was often writing beautiful, heartfelt songs of praise and adoration to God.
This psalm shows David’s unwavering trust in God. Whatever situation he found himself in, he knew God would take care of Him. He trusted Him to provide for all of his needs, spirit, soul and body.
God wants to care for you as He cared for David so goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life.
