Part 8 - Jesus Helps Us Pray (7)
“For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
Just as we started this prayer by glorifying God because of His holiness, so we end the prayer by acknowledging His power and glory. It is good for us to express this in words, thanking God for the wonderful gift of being a part of His eternal Kingdom!
When we talk about the glory of God, we are talking about His splendour and His magnificence. To get an image of the glory of God, read Rev 4:2-11. This gives us a glimpse into His throne room in heaven. Here we see that His glory is greater than all the glory of all the kings and queens in earth’s history.
“Amen” simply means, “it is so.” Prayers that are written in the Bible usually end with “Amen,” signifying our agreement with the prayer that was prayed, and acknowledging that God has heard and is answering that prayer. 1Jn 5:14-15 helps us with these encouraging words: “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” What a wonderful promise!
Setting side a time to pray on a regular basis – daily is best – we will draw closer to God, and we will see His influence on our lives.
