Day 13 – Life, Redemption, Forgiveness and Reconciliation
Let’s take a look at some of the specific blessings we experience personally because we are In Christ. It would be possible to list dozens of these blessings, and although we won’t look at every possible one, we’ll take some time to get a good picture of what He has done for us. Fasten your seatbelts!
We have life in Christ.
No doubt this is the greatest benefit we have in Him.
1Cor 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Acts 17:28 for in Him we live and move and have our being…
This life is not simply a “better” human life; it is the eternal life of God (Rom 6:23). He has given us the ability to live on a different plane – a different level. It is life as God has it.
It is because of this life that we can receive all the other blessings.
We have redemption in Christ.
Eph 1:5in Him we have redemption…
Being “redeemed” means having been “bought back.” We (mankind) had sold ourselves into sin, and were, in a sense, the property of the devil. We were destined to spend eternity with him. But God paid the price for us, and that price was His Son.
Redemption includes all aspects of God’s salvation, such as soundness of mind, healing and protection.
We have forgiveness in Christ.
Col 1:14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
God’s forgiveness is not simply overlooking sin; it is removing sin so it is no longer a part of us (Ps 103:12). Our sin has been remitted (released from any claim of debt).
We have Reconciliation in Christ.
2Cor 5:19 …God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them…
Reconciliation refers to settling accounts. The only way we could have paid our account was to go to hell for eternity, But Jesus’ time there was sufficient to settle our account.
Because of this, we are reconciled to God.
