Day 16 – Freedom, Unity, Confidence and Boldness

We have freedom in Christ.

Gal 5:1Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

We have been freed from the bondage of sin and everything that goes with it. This is not a freedom to do what we “want,” rather a freedom to do what is right.

We are free to live for God, which is living properly – it is the reason we were created.

 We have unity in Christ.

Jn 17:21that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.

As we said earlier, this is one of the main reasons for salvation. This is unity with God and with man. This is similar to peace, but goes another step. It is one thing to be at peace; it is quite another to be in unity.

The fact that we are “in Christ” shows the depth of this unity.

We have confidence in Christ.

1Jn 5:14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

This confidence specifically refers to answered prayer. When we pray in faith, in His name and according to His will, we know God hears and answers our prayers.

It’s important not to lose this confidence if things aren’t going the way we had hoped. In fact, that’s one reason to pray in confidence – we can’t necessarily changes things, but God can.

 We have boldness in Christ.

Eph 3:12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore (since Jesus is our High Priest) come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

This is similar to confidence. While we must never be arrogant or self-confident with God, we are instructed to be bold.  He has promised us much, and He wants us boldly to ask Him to fulfill His Word in our lives.
