Day 11 - God the Holy Spirit

John 14:26 (NCV) But the Helper will teach you everything and will cause you to remember all that I told you. This Helper is the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name.

When Jesus was on the earth, He was representing God the Father, and was carrying out His will. But there came a time when He needed to leave the earth. He did this because if He stayed, He couldn’t be with everyone who needed Him. Although He was God, He was also a man in a physical body – He could only be in one place at a time.

But God’s plan was to be with every person who reached out to Him in faith. And the only way to do that was through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God just as the Father and the Son are God. And since the Holy Spirit doesn’t have a physical body, He can be everywhere (omnipresent), and so He can be with everyone always.

Jesus promised that the Father would send the Holy Spirit, and God always delivers on His promises. He arrived in His full power a few days after Jesus went to be with the Father. His arrival was recorded in Acts 2:1-12, and it created quite a stir. He is a blessing to all believers because He brings the very presence of God into our lives.

The Holy Spirit fills several roles, for example:

He is our comforter (John 14:16 KJV)

He lives inside us (1Cor 3:16)

He teaches us (1Cor 2:13-14 NIV)

He is our Guide (John 16:13)

The best part is that He is with us (in fact, in us) always, and He is our Helper. He is the actual presence of God in our lives. And because He is the Holy Spirit, He helps us understand the holiness of God, and He helps us to live a holy life.

If you haven’t already, invite the Holy Spirit into your life. Invite Him to fill you with His presence. Invite Him to guide you every day. And invite Him to help you in every detail of your life.

You will not be disappointed.

Consider:

What issues are you going through right now where the Holy Spirit could help you?

Have you invited the Holy Spirit to fill you with His Presence?
